Sept 10 - Tryout 3 Review

Good job today.

Notes:
  • There will be a team fee that you must pay at the Athletic Centre (may be done online potentially). Details to come.

Review:

  • Warm-up
  • Lotto: 8 minute limit today, with everyone finishing on time. I saw a lot of pushups being done for turnovers. Let's fix this.
  • Flying V: Several points... a) make cuts sharp as you hit the cone -> don't loop around it. b) work on your timing. try to be planting and reversing your direction just as (or a split second after) the other guy is catching the disc. This way you will be in stride just as the disc goes up (making eye contact with the thrower) and will receive the disc early in your cut. c) try to throw so that your receiver catches it at chest level, arms extended in front of them. d) Kirk made a good point about PRESSURE TO PERFORM. If you're phased by the pressure to perform, try setting goals for yourself in other circumstances, getting yourself used to setting and achieving those goals. If you set a goal, make sure do it. Norm can tell you all about making neural pathways and how giving up on your goals is bad.
  • Scrimmage: Things were looking good. Just to reiterate, think about spacing (spread the Ho stack, cutters should respect handler's space by not coming too close, handlers should spread the field too), make your cuts hard (you don't have to be cutting all the time, but when you do, make it hard and decisive), clear space (always be aware of the cutters around you and where they're going), and CUT IN FAST AFTER YOU GO DEEP.
