Review:
- Warm-up
- Lotto: 10 minutes to complete 5 throws each in two drills. 3-man focuses on hard, active marking. Get a low stance and move your feet to reposition yourself to stop the throw. Use your positioning to dictate where the disc goes, rather than the other way around. As a thrower, make sure you are faking to throw off the mark, and make your fakes legitimate threats. In the Berkeley drill, make 2 decisive cuts, no more! Start with a sharp cut up the line (~45 degrees), then turn hard and return the way you came, while curling towards the middle of the field. No stutter cutting.
- Throw for Score: Deep cuts should go straight out, rather than towards the sideline. Throws should come out early and be put to open space so that the cutter can run onto them (no hospital passes/jump balls). Eye contact is key. Flicks were weak and everyone should be working to improve them. Start by flattening out the disc and getting more spin.
- Scrimmage: White wins by a large margin. Points were made about spreading the Ho stack fully across the field, keeping the Ho stack close to the cutters, and cutting in hard after going deep. 75% of the cuts you make will never get you the disc, but they will create open space for someone else to cut into. Start your cuts early!
Homework:
- Get out and throw every day. Practice off the line throws (slower, hanging passes over 10-20 ft) as well as bombs.
